Well

I retired a flannel shirt this past weekend.

At least one person who reads my natterings (if only occasionally) will understand that. I've no idea exactly how long I owned that shirt. Long enough that the comfy flannelness wore thin, very thin. Probably a couple years ago one of the buttons wore through the front. Didn't come un-sewn mind you, just the very front of the shirt it wore through and remained attached to the folded over flap of material that backed the button edge of the shirt. The collar is so frayed it is amazing it is still attached to the body of the shirt.

On Saturday evening I reached for something and heard/felt the left shoulder give away. Later, when getting ready for bed and I looked at it, I saw it wasn't the seam which gave way but the fabric in the sleeve. Worn so thin, no more strength, flannel shirt is flannel-less. So next morning I salvaged all the buttons, then washed the carcass and left it in Studio. Maybe it will become rags. Maybe I will find someone who is interested in some 'alternate' photography and we'll use Shirt as part of the garb. I'd like the latter, finding some more life for an old companion.

And in other news, there is Joy in Hoggetowne this day, as the Leezards triumphed in their struggle to become National Champions.

Neither am I, I'm a big, brown bear, but I wanted to see two Heisman trophy winners play together again. And it was a very good game.

I figured it would be. I simply must maintain a specific record. With the exception of 3 games, I've never watched the Leezards play. And I'm an alumnus!

Those three games?
National Championship, basketball, 2000, against Michigan State.
Two separate BCS Bowl Games against University of Michigan.

Which, BTW, the Leezards lost all of to the Michigan teams.

They could have stomped them this year, both Michigan teams were less than impressive.

What made you watch those three, if as an almunus, you had a record to maintain! LOL

As an alumnae of UCLA, I try to get tickets every season to the home games, as they play in the Rose Bowl, so it's easy for me to get to. But no money for it. And then last season they were so awful, I probably would have regretted buying the tickets. Very glad I didn't. Don't tell anyone, but I tend to like watching the boys from down the freeway.

I'm sure they would make me resign my alumni membership, which I can't do as I need to go dork around the Research Library!

Because I am a Wolverine! Go Blue!

Grew up in Michigan. And yes, Michigan provided a less than stellar season this year. I am still a Wolverine.

I must admit a soft spot for the Wolverines, and a not-so-soft spot for the Buckeyes. Well, maybe Kirk Herbstreit, I do have a crush on him, but that's about all OSU gets out of me!

I think it's silly one of the first songs I learned to play on the flute was the Michigan fight song, because it has about only five notes. Very easy to play.
